Belgian Mezzo-soprano Linsey Coppens will make her debut this season at the Staatstheater Nürnberg as Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflöte and at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen as the Page in Salome. Linsey will return to Stadttheater Klagenfurt to perform the role of Tisbe in La Cenerentola and will take part in a new Opera Compact production of Madama Butterfly, where she will perform the role of Suzuki.
In the 2023/2024 season, she made her debut at Stadttheater Klagenfurt as Wellgunde in Götterdämmerung and at Theater Hagen as Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Linsey returned to Staatsoper Stuttgart to make her debut as Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel and perform the 2nd Norn and Wellgunde in Götterdämmerung.
Linsey was a member of the Operastudio at Staatsoper Stuttgart in 2020/2023. Her roles included Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Siegrune in Die Walküre, Wellgunde in Götterdämmerung, Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflöte, Linetta in Prokofjew’s Die Liebe zu drei Orangen and Ozias in a staged version of Juditha Triumphans. She debuted at the Nationaltheater Mannheim as Siegrune in Die Walküre and at the Ruhrtriennale Festival as Violet/ Mary in Olga Neuwirth’s Bählamms Fest.
A selection of works performed in concert are Bach’s Mattheus Passion, Hohe Messe and Weihnachtsoratorium, Duruflé’s Requiem, Händel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Krönungsmesse and Rossini‘s Stabat Mater and Petite Messe Solennelle.
Linsey won numerous prizes at prestigious international singing competitions. These awards include, among others, the House of Music Hungary prize at the 5th Éva Marton International Singing Competition and the Van Riemsdijk Prize for best performance of the compulsory piece at the 55th Opera|Oratorio edition of the International Singing Competition in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. She was a finalist of the 61st Concours Tenor Viñas and Voix Nouvelles competition and reached the semi-finals of the 2021 edition of Operalia, the 2023 Queen Elizabeth Singing Competition and the 2024 Sumi Jo International Singing Competition.
Linsey is a graduate of the the Dutch National Opera Academy in Amsterdam. She received her Bachelor’s degree at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and her Master’s degree at the Frost school of music (University of Miami).
