Julia Gromball has been an ensemble member at Theater Gera-Altenburg since the 2023/24 season. In the upcoming 2025/26 season, she looks forward to debuting in three new roles: Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, Fiakermilli in Arabella, and Wagemut in Der Weg des Orpheus. She is also excited to reprise her portrayals of Eliza Doolittle, Arsinoe in Die toten Augen, and Dolly Fleuriot in Meine Schwester und ich. Additionally, she returns for a second season as the Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte at the Landestheater Detmold.

In 2024, she returned to the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar for the award-winning production of Ariadne auf Naxos, performing the roles of Zerbinetta and Najade.

As a member of the Thuringian Opera Studio during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, Julia made numerous role debuts, including Zerbinetta and Najade in Ariadne auf Naxos, and Livia in Caligula at DNT Weimar; Yvette in Die Passagierin and Hannchen in Der Vetter aus Dingsda at Theater Gera-Altenburg; Valencienne in Die lustige Witwe, Serpina in La serva padrona, Gianetta in L’elisir d’amore, Maria Bellacanta in Hexe Hillary, Lieschen in Die Zwillingsbrüder, and the Stewardess in The Addams Family at Theater Nordhausen; and Schleppträgerin in Elektra at Theater Erfurt.

Julia made her stage debut in 2016 at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar as Anna in the musical Spring Awakening, and returned in 2019 as Velma in Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story. From 2018 to 2021, she was an ensemble member of The Rocky Horror Show at the Alte Oper Erfurt, and in 2022, she made her debut as Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel with the Jenaer Philharmonie at the Volkshaus Jena.

She was a finalist in the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin in 2022 and a semi-finalist in the Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in 2021. Julia can be heard on various CD and radio recordings, including J. Fr. Agricola’s Achille in Sciro (as Deidamia) with the Philharmonisches Orchester Gera, and Anton Schweitzer’s Missa Brevis (entirely arranged for solo voice) with the Thüringer Bach Collegium.

Julia earned both her Bachelor (2019) and Master (2023) degrees with High Distinction from the Hochschule für Musik FRANZ LISZT Weimar, and continues her vocal studies with Prof. Hans-Joachim Beyer. She has also benefited greatly from masterclasses with KS Brigitte Fassbaender, Sir Thomas Allen & Joseph Middleton, KS Dorothea Röschmann, KS Angelika Kirchschlager, and Bo Skovhus.
