Scottish tenor Glen Cunningham’s upcoming projects for the 2025/26 season include his debut in Japan as Flute in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival, Gabriel in the world premiere of Hagar with the Nederlandse Reisopera, and performances as First Judge in Das Wunder der Heliane and Don Basilio in Le nozze di Figaro, both at the Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg.

During the 2024/25 season, Glen performed the title role in Albert Herring at Scottish Opera, appearing at the Lammermuir Festival as well as in Glasgow and Edinburgh. He reprised the role of Nick in The Handmaid’s Tale at Theater Freiburg, made his Swiss debut as Snout in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Opéra de Lausanne, and returned to the Opéra National du Rhin as Beadle Bamford in Sweeney Todd. Additionally, he was featured as the tenor soloist in Mozart’s Mass in C minor with the Orchestre National de Mulhouse.

Last season 2024/25 also saw recital performances alongside Stéphane Degout in Strasbourg, London, and Paris, as well as the worldwide release of his debut song album, My Heart’s in the Highlands, accompanied by Anna Tilbrook on Delphian Records.

Glen recently performed roles including L’Ombre d’un poète in Guercœur, Der Schreiber in Der Schatzgräber and the Governor in Candide at Opéra national du Rhin. Whilst singing the Governor, he jumped in to the title role of Candide for two performances and was hailed as ‘the revelation of the night without contest’ by Forum Opera. He also performed roles including Francis Flute A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Lord Dramaleigh Utopia Limited at Scottish Opera and made his German debut at Theater Freiburg in the role of Nick The Handmaid’s Tale in the German Premiere of the opera. Glen was featured on the world premiere recording of Jonathan Sheffer’s Four Ten-Minute Operas with the RNSO, released in March 2023.

Born and raised in the Scottish Highlands, Glen is a graduate of the Royal College of Music’s Opera Studio and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Glen was a Scottish Opera Emerging Artist 2021/2022 and a member of the Opéra Studio at Opéra National du Rhin 2022/24.
