
German-Italian mezzo-soprano Anna-Doris Capitelli has distinguished herself on prestigious stages throughout Europe and beyond. She recently made her debut in Macau, China, performing in a gala concert of Italian opera and zarzuela alongside the legendary tenor Plácido Domingo. Other recent engagements included Dryade in Ariadne auf Naxos at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, and a tour of Le nozze di Figaro under Giovanni Antonini with the Kammerorchester Basel.
In summer 2025, she appeared at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, covering the role of Emma in Zelmira, having previously performed there as Marchesa Melibea in Il viaggio a Reims and Alice in Le comte Ory alongside Juan Diego Flórez. Her other recent stage highlights include Isabella in L’Italiana in Algeri at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro at Teatro Cervantes in Málaga, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia at Staatsoper Hannover, and Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel at Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. She has also sung Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle with the Rundfunkchor Berlin at the Kissinger Sommer Festival and given several concerts at the Marvão International Music Festival under Christoph Poppen.
In the 2026 season, she will return to the stage as Angelina in La Cenerentola at Teatro Cervantes in Málaga and will appear in two semi-staged productions with La Sinfonica di Palermo: as L’Enfant in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les sortilèges and in her role debut as Sesto in Handel’s Giulio Cesare. Another highlight will be her role debut as Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni under the baton of Maestro Riccardo Muti at the Fondazione Prada in Milan.
Anna-Doris Capitelli made her acclaimed debut at Teatro alla Scala in 2017 as Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel under the direction of Sven-Eric Bechtolf. A graduate of the prestigious Accademia Teatro alla Scala (2017–2019), she went on to perform several roles on the stage of La Scala, including Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Tisbe in La Cenerentola, Dryade in Ariadne auf Naxos, Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro, and Myrtale in Thaïs. She was also the female soloist in the world premiere of Madina by Fabio Vacchi.
She has worked with renowned conductors including Marc Albrecht, Daniele Gatti, Giovanni Antonini, Diego Fasolis, Cornelius Meister, and Chung Myung-whun. She appears on two NAXOS recordings featuring world premiere performances of operas by J. S. Mayr: Elena (2021) and Amor non ha ritegno (forthcoming).
A passionate recitalist and chamber musician, she has performed internationally across Japan, Brussels, Paris, South Africa, and Portugal. She also created her own staged version of Schubert’s Schwanengesang, praised by the press for its artistic depth and originality. Capitelli completed her Master’s degree in Music at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover, where she studied with Professors Sabine Ritterbusch and Marina Sandel.
