This season, German-Italian born mezzo-soprano Anna-Doris Capitelli will make her debut in Macau, China, alongside Placido Domingo in a Gala concert with Italian Opera and Zarzuela. Further plans include Dryade in Ariadne auf Naxos at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Sevilla, Rosina in Barbiere di Siviglia in Fondazione Haydn di Bolzano and a tour with Le Nozze di Figaro under the baton of Giovanni Antonini and the Kammerorchester Basel.
Anna-Doris’ most recent performances include among others Isabella in Italiana in Algeri at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle with the Rundfunkchor Berlin, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Cervantes of Malaga, Marchesa Melibea in Il viaggio a Reims and Alice in Le Comte Ory alongside Juan Diego Florez at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Staatsoper Hannover, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel at Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, as well as several concerts in the international music festival of Marvao, Portugal under the baton of Christoph Poppen.
In 2017, she made her highly acclaimed debut at La Scala as Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel under the direction of Sven Eric Bechtolf. Anna-Doris was part of the renowned Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan from 2017-2019. Critics praised Capitelli for “The elegance and seductive timbre of her voice, and her virtuosic coloratura” (connessiallopera2021). During this time, she performed on the stage of La Scala the roles of Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Tisbe in La Cenerentola, Dryade in Ariadne auf Naxos, Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro and Myrtale in Thais. She was also the female soloist in the world Premiere of Madina by Fabio Vacchi.
On her artistic journey, Anna-Doris has worked with renowned conductors such as Marc Albrecht, Daniele Gatti, Giovanni Antonini, Diego Fasolis, Cornelius Meister, Chung Myung-Wung. Anna-Doris was part of two CD Productions by NAXOS with World premiere recordings of two operas by J.S.Mayr: Elena, released in 2021, and a yet to be released recording of Amor non ha ritegno. From a young age, Anna-Doris began to give recitals and concerts with orchestras which gave her the opportunity to perform internationally in numerous cities and countries such as Japan, Brussels, Paris, South Africa and Portugal. Her frequent appearances in recitals demonstrate her great passion for chamber music. Her versatile interest in music and her need to express herself as an artist led her to perform her own staged version of Schubert’s Schwanengesang in collaboration with a young company, which was highly praised by the press. She trained at the Hochschule für Musik Theater und Medien in Hannover, studying with Professor Sabine Ritterbusch and Prof. Marina Sandel; here she completed her Masters in Music in 2020.
